Budget Issues When Moving

Payment Options

We need to collect payment for your move before we unload the truck unless prior credit arrangements have been made to invoice your employer. For your convenience, Stallion Van Lines accepts major credit cards.

  • For local moves you can pay by VISA & MASTERCARD
  • For long distance moves you can pay by VISA, MASTERCARD & AMEX

Your moving consultant will provide you with the necessary authorization forms prior to moving day. You can also pay by cash, certified cheque or bank draft. Because the final charges will not be known until your shipment is weighed, be certain to contact your agent a day or two after loading to obtain the final charges.

Tax Deductibility

If you are moving a minimum of 40 km to start a new job, business or attend a post secondary institution as a full time student, some of your moving expenses may be tax deductible against the income earned in the new location. If expenses exceed the income earned in the move year, they may be carried forward to a new tax year. Obtain a T-1 Moving Expenses form from Revenue Canada.

Saving Money

One of the best ways to save money when moving is to dispose of furniture and other items that you no longer need. By reducing the weight, you reduce your overall moving cost. Consider giving items to family or friend, hold a garage sale or donate items to a charity.
