Commercial moves have the potential of being more difficult to organize than a typical household move, but it does become inevitable for most companies at some point. But before you begin your move or even before you consider moving we have a couple of suggestions for you:
- Begin researching new office spaces well before the date of your move – this goes for a new office build as well. If you are planning to move into a brand new leased building you will have to know where this is long before your actual move happens. This will allow for ample time to ensure everything is working well and things such as phone lines and internet are up and running before you arrive.
- Try to determine what you will be keeping. If the office you are moving into has already got installed furniture and desks there may be no reason for your old ones to come with you, but if there is only going to be partial furniture available for you this could be an opportunity to start fresh with some new items. If you are planning to purchase new furniture, be very aware of how much room you have in the new office space – you want to make sure you don’t overcrowd the new space!
- You’ll also need to begin getting your moving estimates a couple of months prior to your move – a lot of companies that do office and company relocations can book up quickly and trying to coordinate a large move such as your office takes a lot more than a one bedroom apartment would. Your moving consultant should come out to your office and meet with the team in charge of your move to discuss all of the details and an estimate for your move day. They will be the individual that can answer any and all questions and concerns you might have in regards to your move.
